Principals

Carl Peterson

Carl Peterson has been involved in capital equipment and project financings, primarily domestic and cross-border leveraged lease financings for over 25 years, predominantly in Australia. Prior to the establishment of Meridian, Carl was a principal of Babcock & Brown's Australian operations and before that with the San Francisco based GATX Leasing group, one of the largest operating lease companies in the United States.

Carl earned a Bachelor of Science and Arts majoring in Economics and Mathematics from Northwestern University and Masters of Business Administration majoring in Finance and Marketing from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management.


Tom Muir

Tom Muir has been involved with the structured finance industry since the early 1980's as a tax and accounting advisor with KPMG (Peat Marwick). Immediately prior to joining Meridian in 1991, Tom worked as an executive with a major merchant banking group active in the domestic and international capital markets.

Tom studied at Sydney University and gained Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Laws degrees. He was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales but practised (and lectured) in the field of taxation law as a qualified chartered accountant for many years.


Jonathan Trollip

Jonathan Trollip joined Meridian in 1994. Prior to that Jonathan was a partner of law firm Freehills where he specialised in structured and project financing. During his five years with that firm, a major part of Jonathan’s practice was acting for a range of financiers, arrangers and lessees on asset based project financing transactions. Prior to that Jonathan worked in London for a major City law firm predominantly in structured financing.

Jonathan wasadmitted as a solicitor in England and various Australian jurisdictions. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Economics major) and a post-graduate Economics Honours degree from University of Cape Town, South Africa and a Masters of Law from the London School of Economics, University of London.


Anthony Swain

Anthony Swain has 18 years experience in the pricing and structuring of complex financings. Accordingly, he develops the debt and equity components of a transaction so as to achieve the objectives of all parties. Anthony joined Meridian in 1992 and holds a Bachelor of Economics degree and a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Management from the University of New England.
